DuPont Wet & Wild

here are photos from this past weekend's DuPont "Save the Trails Challenge" It had been scheduled for Saturday, but it rained for like three days straight, so the Pisgah SORBA gang shifted it to Sunday, which was a nice breezy sun filled day, not too much mud, lots of water and lots of grit. got a couple of rides in with Jay while we ran one of the Checkpoints for the two Long milage rides. Heeling vibes going out to Cissy who crashed hard, breaking her arm, coming down Burnt Mountain Trail. No other casualties other than someone losing a Sidi while crossing the river. that would suck riding 10+ miles back to the start minus a shoe. All in all it was a great day to be on two wheels.

Flowy, and wet

Man this week just kind of flew by.... Last Night was our IMBA/SORBA Short Meeting / Beer Social, and then it was cross the street over to that Camelot for the Banff Mountain Film Festival...

Good Times, Good Friends, Good films... the mountain bike feature was the Collective's Seasons .. i was hoping for some footage of something different, but from the sounds and reactions of most the folk in attendance had never seen it before... so that's cool. Great turn out over all, place was packed and they're doing it again tonight, completely different set of flicks on tap.... After the Films we jumped back across the street to Fitzpatrick's for more Guinness w/ J. Kip, Mike K, GerrittB

filling up fast...

trouble

here are some assorted photos from H's newest sport Lacrosse, Pretty cool, was amazed at how outrageously priced the gear is... Sorry, Lil'Dude that Full suspension Bike is gonna have to wait.

Have a good wet weekend, i can't really bitch too much about the rain, we need it... and without it i would be having my ass handed to by my sinus' and allergies, so at least all of this rain is washing that pollen away from my nose!

Flowin'

Man. i wish my days could just flow like this video, smooth, light and breezy

There is nothing smooth, light and breezy about anything i do, instead my days are usually violently crashing into a bloody mess like a bag full of anvils

what's on tap for the day? Well work, with an occasional light sprinkle of work, Followed by heavy downpours of more work this afternoon to at which point i piss someone off (guaranteed) and go have a Beer (or 3) at Fitzpatrick's for our SORBA chapter social/meeting then make my way over to the Banff Mountain Film Festival.

have a nice day! and always remember Your Government Loves You!

Humpin it

Yeah work = replacing family... just the way socialism should work i guess

Couple of projects in the works.... getting PMBAR's site going, working, looking pretty! it's getting there.

Got an Email from Mr. ByStickel  "How's the website going?"

Steve it's in stealth mode, just like you wanted it buddy! :)

Herndon i'm still working your stuff! sorry for the delays, and yes i am slack.

Still trying to get StumpJump & the SORBA Women's Ride clinic art done and loaded registration on to the website...

I am not a web master guy by any means.... i do art and i'm a hack, at best, with all else. a Jack of all trades, master at none. Here the Last couple nights have been spent house cleaning the UpstateSORBA mess of a website... getting rid of old data, bad links, bad grammar you name it...

Working with Jut to get his GearHeads off the ground. my prediction? gonna be huge.

was hoping to get a ride in today but the weather has other plans.... Rain....  So the Dude...

Happy Birthday Kiddo!

Happy 1st Day of Spring! & Happy Birthday to my son!

12 years ago our little baby was born... and somewhere in the last year or so has been replaced by a Punk Tween. Just kidding of course, anyone who knows my son, Knows he's not your typical kid, he asked that instead of a Birthday Cake could we get him one of these

Yeah that's cool, whole lot better than cake, but dang a cake would've been like 3 times cheaper! but he's worth it.

Who watches the Watchmen?

I guess not that many....

watchmen

Yep the wife and i went to the Movies Saturday, Weird we get to the theatre for the 5:15 show, there were a handful of folks at the concessions counter, i didn't really look to see how many other people were in the theatre as we took our seats, movie starts and at the end we get up and the place was completely empty... was a if there had just been the two of us watching the movie?

I dug it, i've always been a comic book geek, the wife didn't like it. The funniest thing was i couldn't get past how much Dicky (No not the Blue guy's donger) but Team Dicky looks like the unmasked Rorschach (played by Jackie Earle Haley)

Jackie Earle Haley

....you know Moocher in the movie Breaking Away i chuckled several times during the flick... man that is so Rich....

BreakingAway2

tell me they're not one in the same...

Talk, Talk, Talking Heads

Gotta love the Daily Show!

I've got to get this painting for my living room! love it!

Ever wonder what a Trillion dollars looks like?

All this talk about "stimulus packages" and "bailouts"...

A billion dollars...

A hundred billion dollars...

Eight hundred billion dollars...

One TRILLION dollars...

What does that look like?

Let's start with a $100 dollar bill. Currently the largest U.S. denomination in general circulation. Most everyone has seen them, slighty fewer have owned them. Guaranteed to make friends wherever they go.

A packet of one hundred $100 bills is less than 1/2" thick and contains $10,000. Fits in your pocket easily and is more than enough for week or two of shamefully decadent fun.

Believe it or not, this next little pile is $1 million dollars (100 packets of $10,000). You could stuff that into a grocery bag and walk around with it.

While a measly $1 million looked a little unimpressive, $100 million is a little more respectable. It fits neatly on a standard pallet...

And $1 BILLION dollars... now we're really getting somewhere...

Next we'll look at ONE TRILLION dollars. This is that number we've been hearing so much about. What is a trillion dollars? Well, it's a million million. It's a thousand billion. It's a one followed by 12 zeros.

You ready for this?

It's pretty surprising.

All i want to know is "Where's my Stimulus Package?"

Weekend of Trailwork

Saturday made my way out to Issaqueena (Clemson) to get in a ride, and also scout out the trail work we would be doing the next day>

DSC_0455

DSC_0469

started the ride going down the Dam Rd. trail and got to the mud hole and as soon as rode through it was covered in Clemson Mud. face, chest, shorts, legs and shoes... so i spent the next hour draining out the pit by opening up the blockage and then gathered enough rock to fill the pit!

DSC_0428

then after hittin' the Issaqueena Lake Trail for some scenic bliss, i crossed over to Chain Breaker Trail to assess the damage that was done couple of months back when a tornado hit over near the town of Six Mile. Now i don't think a tornado actually hit here at the trail.... They call it "Straight Line Winds" powerful downdraft that levels everything in it's path... I took me over an hour just to cover maybe hundred yards....

What a mess

DSC_0444

there were at least a 100 trees down, some stacked 3 or 4 high, again what a mess, Saturday seemed hopeless, there was no way we could tackle getting this cleared and rideable.

the amazing happened though, If you throw enough people into it we can accomplish anything! Thanks to the 20+ folks who came out for the group ride

DSC_0480

and trail work party and amazingly enough we cleared about 95% of the trail, still a couple of the huge oaks left
