This Past Saturday was a lot of fun Saturday at the Paris Mountain Friends & Family Day. Talking with the Rangers the have 2000+ folk come to the park and we had 60+ kids during the day for the skillz shiz & ride.... great turn out. Thanks to all the volunteers that came out, Steve, Jay, Chuck, JD,  Meeker & Chris with G'ville Rec and Tad @ Sunrift  for the rental bike fleet.

This week i've been mega slammed with work & down hard with allergies, the past few days the claritin, benadryl, alarvert, rhino sprays, sinus med cocktails ive been suckin' down just aren't gettin' it... but today has been an improvement.... i can breathe again.

at least i'm not down with the swine flu....

last year was fun, this year we're adding stunts & obstacles to make it all the more exciting...hope our club insurance is paid up!

where am i?  that would be strugglin' to meet deadlines,  though i am making some progress,  this weekend, GearHeads, Friends of Paris Mountain., next weekend PMBAR then the Kona Demo @ Paris the next day, then StumpJump,  then the next weekend is the Bikeville skillz clinic at Cleveland Park.  then it is time to decompress.  first week in June is our annual hiatus to the beach... cant wait...

Things are Closer than They Appear

Great time this weekend,  Friday was crazy getting everything prepared for this weekend with multiple things happenin'.  Mid afternoon Friday got the word from the PCF folks that we couldn't get the obstacles that we needed for the next day's women's skillz clinic.... So at around 8pm that night we started building a new 16ft teeter-totter and other technical features for Saturday's event.  Thanks Fincher and Christine, and (man i am bad w/ names....sorry)  but we were able to knock out some kickass stuff , and amazingly enough  i made it to DuPont before midnight, to drink way too many beers in under two hours, Thanks Tomato. Yeah 6 AM came way too early!

then it was off to the other side of the forest for some SORBA trail work on Pinetree Trail. Lots of Rock armoring and rerouting some sections to get rid of some of the fall line and erosion trouble spots. great turn-out for this too.  then it was back to the horse barn for fun...

Yep Working for the weekend... only to work over the weekend!  later today i'm headed to Sparkleburg to pick up the Bigass teeter, stunts and obstacles

then up to Dupont to get in a ride  

then set up camp at the horse barn

then drink some cold ones

then enjoy the fire

then set up for the Women's MTB Skillz Clinic at Guion Farm in the morning 

then head over and do some community service work rock armoring on Pine Tree trail on the other side of the forest 

and then finally camp so more! 

then enjoy.

No more making fun of JC on Easter weekend! 

Friday Night we had a tornado hit town less than a mile from our house, Man it was pretty crazy for about a half hour... had no idea what was headed our way... didn't have tv on,  we were planning on going to get some mexican food and a beer down the street.... then it started pouring down, then turned horizontal for a little while,  finally it let up a little and we didn't know  what happened till we got to Corona's... then found out what happened down the road...  kinda freaky...    

I'm pretty sure we had at least 2 inches of rain in that half hour...Good thing too, my allergies is in full bloom and most of the pollen was washed away, yeah the trees here are in full explosion mode, everything is yellow.

Saturday was meeting the group @ Southside Park, Spartanburg.

we had planned a trail work day / group ride up at Southsideto prepare for the upcoming StumpJump Race in May... we decided let's do some ride and trail work while doing the ride. Loaded the BoB trailer with 4 sets of loppers, a bow saw and a small shovel. 

I was following Thad And Jenna on FernGully trail and came up to a step up root section. Maybe it was my 228lbs + gear + DSLR camera and bag+ tool trailer+Rigid Fork, but the Aluminum Frame had no chance... maybe the BoB trailer got snagged on the roots, but in a split second i was laying in the dirt. 

The Godfather (El Padrino) aka ThunderPumpkin  is dead. A busted heap of scrap aluminum... Sucks i never really liked the ride quality of this bike compared to the steel bikes i own... and was getting ready to sell on ebay... I'm just glad nobody was hurt.

Karma, yeah it's a bitch, and i got a healthy dose of it this weekend
