Man, it was HOT yesterday, was i suffering at the cowbell? No i spent the 2nd longest day on the planet doing yard work..... You know "The yard" (that neglected space between my neighbor's neglected spaces). Well actually they were all making me look bad, since nothing has be done to my yard since before we went on vacation. So it was an especially fun day in the 98F degree temps and blaring sun and 80+% humidity.
speaking of the sun on it's longest day of the year:
The sun makes up 99.8% of the mass of the solar system. It’s about 100 times as dense as water.
Mass = 2,200,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 tons.
Taken by the STEREO behind satellite June 9, 2007
The sun’s fusion reaction combines four hydrogen atoms into one helium atom. However, one helium atom weighs less than four hydrogens. The difference in mass is converted to energy. 4.2 million tons of it are converted to energy per second.
Core Temperature ~ 20,000,000°F
Surface Temperature = 10,000°F
It has an 11 year cycle between less activity and more activity. We’re currently at a minimum. The last maximum was in 2003. This film shows a comparison between the extremes. Note the camera interference after a flare and coronal mass ejection (CME)
Like the earth, the sun rotates on its axis. One rotation takes about four weeks. However, it’s not a solid body. The equator completes a rotation in 27 days, but the polar regions take 30 days. (this concludes today's lesson)
Happy Father's Day to my dad, also Happy 30th Anniversary to you guys hope you are enjoying your trip! and to my wife's father "Happy Father's Day Pop!"

Man... coming back from vacation sucks, plain and simple...
A week away is far too short a time!
It's kind of strange though... going on vacation not knowing where your next paycheck is coming from, needless to say the wife's a little stressed.
i've got a couple of web projects ( SEX and Newkirk Law ) in the works and thanks to Todd for throwing some work my way for ORAMM. Mucho appreciado ! speaking of Todd here is an interview on the upcoming Pisgah Stage Race, going to be very cool.
So if you know anyone who needs a graphics whore...
Going into last night's Volunteer Meeting i honestly didn't know how many folks would show, i knew a few of the usual suspects would pop in, but would anyone else step up?.... Would this race even happen this year? If so, some peeps were going to have to help us with planning and organizing this event... So after a long discussion of what we did right and where we failed last year and what needs to be different this year. so we decided "yeah let's do it!"
tonight is the meeting to see if we're still going to do the DH Race at Paris... Last year's event was a huge success, double the riders, 10 times the spectators we had expected, and only a handful of volunteers, This year's promises to be bigger, but if we don't have some folks step up and help plan this thing, I'm afraid it isn't going to make it. So tonight is the call for volunteers 6:30 at Fitzpatrick's Irish Pub over on Laurens Rd. down the street from the Great Escape.
