Bridge building with the kid... Science fair project over the weekend. Man, it seems the older your kid(s) get the less free time you get. Weekends seemed to last forever and now it's a whirlwind to get it all done in two days...
Saturday i took a break from the bridge project since H had a bunch of the pieces to build....i really didn't want to spend another saturday parked in front of a computer, so it was time to get a quick ride in! Started from the house over to the Y then hit all of the dirt behind the zoo and Cleveland Park trails.
then up to Falls Park
then decided to go a little further north the swamp rabbit.
last time i was on the bike there was snow.
Saturday was nice...it rained a lot the night before and into the morning , cleared out nicely, high 40's low 50's cruising along on the Rabbit; not to many others out riding... Next thing i know..... whoosh
Big George blows by me... i caught back up to him :) at the rusted train, big road crossing (traffic was heavy). we crossed the road together ; then it was back to riding. I tried my damnedest to stay on his wheel... to no avail
a 34x22 gear ratio had me at a disadvantage. spin....spin....spin.... it took forever to get the point and shoot out and turned on to snap a shot.... a little later I ran into Jamie & Bill as they were heading back towards town "hey was that Hincapie?" few minute later the whole gaggle of BMC/Hincapie team were out for a training ride... on the Swamp Rabbit? Really? come on
decided i had gone this far might as well go to the end and turn around... then stopped by Sunrift to talk with Tad & Jason, then over to Leopard Forest for a pound of coffee and a bagel
then it was homeward bound.... 14 miles back home with a 20+knt headwind on a singlespeed hadn't ridden in a month... and man i was now feeling it...
had to stop and take some glamour shots
Got home just in time to help assemble the bridges with the Kid. Next day was bridge stress testing time and was kind of surprised how much weight these things held the truss with the vertical supports held 27lbs
not much else going on.... watched the Stupor Bowl... Man what was up with the music? it was like bad high school talent shows gone terribly wrong.
